Elbow
Your elbow joint is less likely prone to wear and tear. However, sometimes due to persistent use of the elbow at work or while playing sports might require treatment to recover the movement.
Common causes of elbow joint pain involve:
Olecranon Bursitis
Olecranon Bursitis is a pain in the olecranon bursa - a fluid-filled bursa or pouch that lines the tip of the elbow joint. Trauma, persistent pressure on the elbow, infection and arthritis are some of the most common causes of elbow bursitis.
Usually, individuals with olecranon bursitis get healed with home treatments and can get back to normal activities within three to six weeks. However, in some rare cases, surgery is recommended if the pain does not go away with non-surgical treatments.
Tennis Elbow
Tennis elbow or lateral epicondylitis is a severe condition that evolves when tissue in your elbow is strained, mostly by the persistent movement of the wrist and arm. Causes of tennis elbow include the prolonged motion of the elbow in activities like plumbing, painting, and butchering.
Rest and medication can relieve and cure the pain. However, if the pain does not heal with medication, your doctor might recommend surgery.
Golfer’s Elbow
The golfer’s elbow is a situation that causes pain in the inner side of the elbow. The cause involves continuous stress, often by the forceful wrist and finger movement.
Treatments involve ice, medications, physical exercise, rest, and elbow banding.
Cubital Tunnel Syndrome
Ulnar Nerve Entrapment happens when the ulnar nerve in the arm becomes injured or irritated. And when the ulnar nerve is compressed at the elbow that condition is called cubital tunnel syndrome. Arthritis, past fracture, or dislocation of the elbow could also cause cubital tunnel syndrome.
Resting, bandaging, medication, and physical exercise are some of the nonsurgical treatments that can cure this syndrome. However, if nonsurgical treatments do not heal your pain then you might be recommended surgery.
